Age of Consent - Safeguarding Emerging Adults Act

In many states, the age of consent is still as low as 16. That means grown adults can legally have sex with teenagers who are still in high school.
That isn’t freedom, it's a failure to protect our children. Kids deserve time to grow, learn, and become adults without being legally exposed to exploitation.

Under my presidency I will pressure the states to;

1. Increase the age of consent to 21

  • I will draft a bill that ties federal funding to the age-of-consent compliance (very similar to the Drinking Age Act of 1984)
  • I will target key federal funds that states rely on: Highways, law enforcement grants, social services and education. The threat of losing federal funding is enough pressure to encourage State Lawmakers to comply or risk losing federal funding.
  • Publicly report which states have and have not adopted the new age of consent.

    This isn’t about politics.
    It’s about protecting kids.
    No teenager should be legally vulnerable to adult exploitation simply because of where they live.
    Together, we can make sure every child in America is safe.
