Healthcare - The Health Freedom and Access Act

No one should have to choose between paying for rent, food, or lifesaving care. Too many Americans are forced to gamble with their health because our system is overly complicated, expensive, and inconsistent. Right now your tax dollars fund multiple different government funded healthcare programs and yet, so many Americans cannot afford coverage.

Under my presidency, I will pressure Congress to;

1. Create a Free, Income-Based Universal Healthcare Program

  • Americans who fall below an after-tax income threshold will receive free healthcare coverage, automatically enrolled when filing taxes. No complicated applications the system works for people, not paperwork

  • Coverage includes preventive care, emergency care, mental health services, and physician-prescribed medications.

  • Single adults with annual income of less than $80,000 covered.
  • Married couples with combined annual income of less than $150,000 covered.
  • All children are automatically enrolled and covered at birth regardless of parent's income until they are 18.

2. Private Insurance Reform

  • For those above the income threshold, private insurance is still available.

  • Private insurers must consult your physician before denying care.

  • Denials must be based on evidence, not algorithms and patients will receive clear explanations.

3. Employer Health Insurance Plans

  • Adults under the income threshold are automatically enrolled in healthcare coverage. If your income is above that threshold, you can choose to keep your employer's plan or opt in to the public plan and pay a sliding scale premium.
  • Employers can opt in to pay a payroll-based contribution into the national plan or continue paying private insurers.
