America is one of the only developed nations without guaranteed paid parental leave. That must change. Raising children is not a private inconvenience. It is national infrastructure. Just like roads, schools, and hospitals, supporting families is an investment in America’s future. This policy ensures no parent has to choose between bonding with their newborn and keeping the lights on.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development consistently finds that nations with paid parental leave experience stronger family stability and healthier labor markets. It’s time for the United States to finally stand with American families.

Under my presidency I will pressure Congress to;

1. Implement a federal paid parental leave program

• 6 months (26 weeks) of paid leave for mothers
• 3 months (12 weeks) of paid leave for fathers (under a use-it-or-lose-it status)
• Guaranteed job protection during leave
• Right to return to same or equivalent position and pay
• Partial wage replacement so families can pay their bills while on leave

2. Create a Family Leave Trust Fund under Social Security Administration

• Workers contribute 0.4% payroll tax (no new taxes, redirected from taxes you already pay)
• Employers contribute a 0.4% payroll tax (no new taxes, redirected from taxes you already pay)
• Funds are pooled nationally
• Parents are paid directly from the program
